Your Essential Party Tent Buying Guide

Our Airwave ® party tents are fantastic value for money and perfect for protecting your guests from hot sun, light drizzle, and chilly winds at an affordable price - but what do you need to think about before making your purchase? We’ve put together a handy guide to give you tips on what to consider, how to care for your tent, and some ideas about how to use the space.

What can I use my party tent for?

First of all, envision your party tent - how can you use the space? Our party tents have been used for a range of events, including BBQs, camping, garden parties, festivals, charity stalls, small community events, and much more.

We love hearing about the various ways our customers have used and decorated their party tents to match what they need. Here are a few of our favourite ideas:

Activity and games area – this has varied from beer pong to an old school fête theme with skittles, ring toss, and face painting.

Play area for children – a party tent is a great way to keep children safe and shaded from the hot sun. Keep them entertained with a ball pit, sand pit or paddling pool (just ensure that they’re supervised at all times).

Bar area – great for keeping drinks cool in the summer. Why not also get creative in the winter? We love the idea of a mulled wine area for a Christmas party, complete with fairy lights, artificial holly, and a mini Christmas tree for decoration!

A place to sit and relax – create a chilled ambience with bean bags, colourful floor cushions, blankets, and mood lighting.

Spa area – an inflatable hot tub is a great way to make your party that extra bit special.

These are only a few ways that our tents can be utilised – with a little imagination, there’s an unlimited amount of uses for these party tents. How will you use yours?

Is a party tent right for me?

Party Tents are great for short term use and can withstand mildly bad weather but please bear in mind that they’re not built to be left up overnight or during extreme weather. Our party tents are water resistant – meaning that a light drizzle won’t be an issue – but they won’t protect you and your guests from a downpour.

Due to the lightweight material, our party tents aren’t designed to endure strong winds. If you’re looking for a shelter that’s more durable against windier weather and also waterproof instead of water resistant, a better fit may be one of our elite gazebos. If you’ll be using it for commercial purposes, take a look at our commercial gazebos range.

Setting up your party tent will be relatively straightforward; you’ll just need to slot the poles together to form the frame, connect the frame to the nylon connectors, and then cover with the canopy. You may want to get some help from a friend or family member, especially if you’re going for a larger party tent, as it’ll make it quicker and easier for you to put up. If you particularly struggle with assembling parts, we have a wide range of pop-up gazebos which have a pre-constructed frame and may be better suited to your needs.

What else do I need to think about?

Colour

Colour can make a huge difference to the feel of your event. Our party tents come in five different colours; white, red, beige, blue, and green, giving you the freedom to choose a party tent that matches your desired style. For example, our vibrant and fun red party tent looks amazing at a themed party event such as a children’s pirate party. However, if you’re looking for something more low-key, our white party tent looks lovely with some simple decoration and delicate fairy lights.

Size and Space

Before buying a party tent, think about the size and what you’ll be using it for. As an example, if you’re using it for a bar area, do you want it purely for storage or as an alternative place to socialise as well?

You’ll also need to take into consideration the amount of guests that are attending your event. You’ll need a tent that has ample space in relation to your party size – you don’t want anyone to be left out in the drizzle if you have to temporarily migrate underneath the tent!

You’ll need to be realistic when thinking about what will fit well and will look good in your outdoor space. Think about whether the size of the party tent that you’re buying is going to look modest in your garden or whether it will dominate the area.

We highly recommend taking a tape measure and marking out the potential area that you’d like to use in your outdoor space as this will give you a good idea of what size party tent will suit your needs. You’ll also want to think about access, ensuring that your tent is easy to enter/exit and doesn’t block off any fire escapes.

Our party tents come in four different sizes so that you can choose which will suit your event:

3x3m

4x3m

6x3m

9x3m

What can I do to look after my Party Tent?

To make the most of your party tent and increase its longevity, it’s important that you ensure it’s anchored down tightly and securely when constructed. Guy ropes and pegs are included with our party tents, however, it’s also worthwhile thinking about investing in a set of four leg weights for extra stability.

Our party tents are suitable for erection on both hard and soft ground, although you’ll want to avoid surfaces such as mud or clay that become particularly soft when wet. Setting it up on level ground also increases the party tent’s sturdiness and ensures that the structure looks better in your outdoor space. If you’re worried about your grass being spoiled, our party tent/gazebo flooring will help to protect your ground from damage.

To avoid putting your party tent at a higher risk of damage, make sure that you don’t leave it up overnight or during inclement weather conditions. Following these guidelines will ensure that your tent stays in top condition and continues to be a feature of many outdoor celebrations. Before and after using your party tent, keep it in a dry and safe place.

Hopefully our buying guide has helped you to decide if a party tent is right for you. If you have any other queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
